Best weekend EVER!!

I'm a week behind, so here's last week's rundown -

Holy crap - BEST. WEEKEND. EVER. This was the weekend that I was not at liberty to discuss in last week's blog post and it was amazing!! The whole weekend was to celebrate Wendi lady's BIG 4-0 and celebrate we did! Her husband Chris surprised her and rented a 4200 square foot log cabin out in Sequim. He then filled it with all of her favorite people; including her sister, Mandi who flew out from Michigan to help celebrate! We started off the weekend by pre-funking on the way there in Wilson (Chris & Wendi's motor home, for those who haven't already met him.)

This time it wasn't me barfing, it was Mario - before we even got there! Thank you, Pete!! He spent the first three hours of our weekend on the motor home bathroom floor. Very nice! The rest of the weekend we all spent drinking, riding bikes, ziplining, playing extreme air hockey, soaking in the hot tub and listening to Justin Hale's Band (minus the band. LOL!) play some awesome music. It was such a great time! Not a whole lot of pictures were taken as most of the people with cameras were drunk and otherwise engaged, but here are some pics that made it.

Prefunking in the motorhome on the way there!
Wilson and the super amazing cabin.

SHOTS!
Mandi & Anja looking awesome in their hats!
Tif and I. Not sure what we were doing or why....
Mario napped and Chris did dirty things to him.
She was done for the night!
It's true. LOL!
Hats in the bathtub.

Oh! And I got a new hair cut and color on Friday. I've been wanting something new and different, so I went with long layers and super dark. Here's what I ended up with. I'm kind of digging it; it's sassy!!

News Article/Current Event -

Current Obsession -  Ecotools brushes are this week's obsession. They're cheap and awesome and I'm missing the eye brush set. How could this be?! And I need another foundation brush so I can rotate when I wash them. That brush takes forever to dry!

What I'm Looking Forward to in the Week Ahead -
Not too much going on this week. Tif and I are going to hit the mall on Wednesday. Hopefully, Wendi and Missy will be able to join us. Tif needs a new shirt and I'll be shopping for makeup. Big surprise! Last week we hit the mall and both picked up a new MAC shadow in a color called "Club". It is AMAZING! Because it's a duochrome color, you can create a smoky eye using just one color. Watch how to do it here.

We don't have any big plans for the weekend either. I started emptying out the guest room this weekend so I can get my exercise room up and running. The guest bed and our big chair-and-a-half + ottoman are seriously holding up my flow. I'm going to try and get those out of there next weekend and get them into storage. I have my treadmill, recumbant bike and health rider to set up and depending on how much room is left, I'd like to add a rowing machine and elliptical. I miss working out!!

Weight Update - Last weekend did me in - I'm up .8 pounds. No matter; it's a new week and we're back on track! Will weigh in again this Friday. On a slightly related note, Mario and I signed up for The Warrior Dash along with some of our friends. I'm pretty sure we'll die while doing it, but at least we can say we tried!

Neato Quote of the Week - I am more and more convinced that our happiness or unhappiness depends more on the way we meet the events of life than on the nature of those events themselves. - Alexander Humboldt

(910) So just in case you wake up on the couch wondering how you got there - you came home at 7am, put ice in a cup, then you proceeded to put the cup in the microwave to melt it because you "wanted water". You then, fell down the stairs while saying "you don't know me", then crawled to the couch.

And Finally, My Gripe - OH, the flooding!! Every damn year. Hwy. 203 was closed today due to "water over the roadway". UGH. It took me over an hour and a half to get to work last week since I had to go ALL the way around the valley to get to Redmond. This is a little sample of what we've had to deal with up here in rural Snohomish county this year. Here are some pictures of the 2009 flooding - the worst I've seen since we've lived up here.

The only other bridge across the valley -
this one is the first to flood and when it does,
I know it's time to head home from work!
This is the bridge I drive over everyday to get to work.

What a lame week....

So, BIG NEWS!! Well, it's big news to me anyway. I finally got my hands on the Urban Decay Naked palette!! I've been trying to get this damn thing for months and months, but it's been sold out everywhere. It's amazing! I have found that some of the colors have a delayed glitter fallout, which makes it look like a stripper sneezed on me. It's fine though; Leah likes it. She says every time she looks at me it's like looking at a disco ball. Cool! I also bought some Benefit Highbeam highlighter. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but it has potential. Next purchase on the list is the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeliner Pencils. They will be mine!

News Article/Current Event -

Current Obsession -  Nacho Doritos. Mario brought home a giant Costco sized bag of them and they're tormenting me. They're just out in the kitchen, sitting in their crunchy little bag, just calling out to me to nibble their tasty little corners. BUT NO!! I cannot.

What I'm Looking Forward to in the Week Ahead -
We have a BIG weekend planned, but I am currently not at liberty to discuss it. Pictures will be posted next week. Well, the clean ones will be posted. I'm sure they'll be far and few between though. Stay tuned!

Weight Update - I weighed in last Friday and was offically down 44lbs, but yesterday I ate 22 points worth of chocolate cake and caramel ice cream for Amy's birthday. I'm guessing my weigh in this Friday is not going to go so well. Time to get my big butt back on the treadmill! On the upside, when we went snow tubing last weekend I hiked up the hill all six times. Last year I made it up once and literally almost died. What a difference 44lbs makes!

Texts From Last Night "Text of the Week" -
(603) I don't know what kind of drugs you were on last night, but you kept trying to highlight my face because you said I was important.

And Finally, My Gripe - Wow. Self absorbed people from high school are this week's gripe! As you all know, friends find it fun to get their scanners out, scan in embarrassing pictures from junior high and post them on Facebook. We've all been there. I know; I've been tagged in plenty. Do I care if other people see them? No, because that's who I was and what I looked like. I find it pretty hysterical really!

Just tonight one of my friends posted a picture of me and two of my other friends from what appears to be our 6th grade Canada trip. It's unflattering, involves hypercolor t-shirts and wave bangs - it's amazing basically. Well, just minutes after it was posted, I get a frantic Facebook message from one of the other girls in the photo. She was appalled that anyone would post such a horrific picture of her and was in a genuine panic over who might have seen it. We went back and forth for a while (I was trying to be nice. FAIL!) until I finally told her to get over herself and grow up. I'm such a peach. AND I'm pretty sure I'm getting un-friended. I may not survive.

Another exciting year is upon us! Yeah, right.

Last week was uneventful. Thursday night was cold and clear so we went up to Chris and Wendi's and had a bonfire. Good way to get rid of those Christmas trees and wrapping paper! Did some shopping and pho with Tif and Zoie on Friday - Nordstrom Rack was CRAZY!! The line was literally around the entire building. On the plus side, I found out they carry women's shoes in size 11-13! YEAH!

Spent New Years Eve with the hubster, eating pizza and watching movies. We're wild and crazy like that! The rest of the weekend was housework and weekly planning. Trying to get back into my Weight Watchers/exercising groove! I made several resolutions this year and I'm really, really going to try and stick to em'.

  • Spend less time on the computer and more time reading books.
  • Eat more food grown on trees and plants and less food manufactured in plants.
  • Sleep more!! 5 hours a night is NOT OK!
  • Be active four days a week, for at least an hour.

News Article/Current Event -

Current Obsession -  I'm not super obsessed with anything in particular this week. I have been very, very into several songs though. I think I'm wearing the tracks off of my iPod. Kenny Chesney - Somewhere with you / Bruno Mars - Grenade / Jarrod Neiman - What do you want / Sunny Sweeney - From a table away / Far East Movement - Like a G-6 / Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand. I'm one of those people that can listen to the same song over and over and over and over without ever becoming tired of it. Just one more reason I'm weird. Oh, and I find Bruno Mars oddly sexy. Just thought I'd throw that in there!

What I'm Looking Forward to in the Week Ahead -
So far, the week ahead is looking like a fairly quiet one. Wednesday, Tif and I are headed back to the mall. I bet you'll NEVER guess what we're shopping for. MAKEUP!!! Who'd have thought? Here's what's on my list - Bobbi Brown Gel Liner, Smashbox In Bloom paletteMAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer, Benefit Girl Meets Pearl and possibly the Smashbox Master's Class Files. Good thing Mario bought me that train case for Christmas! But, too bad it's already full (until I get my Z palettes that is!) I have a Kohl's card to use also, so maybe I'll pick up some clothes while we're there.

Saturday, I've gathered up the gang and we're heading up to Snoqualmie Pass to do some night snow tubing. We did it last year and had a blast! I figured it would be a fun family friendly activity since everyone has their kids this weekend. Well, except us since we don't have any. LOL! It's a good excuse to do "kid stuff" without feeling like a creep. I'll post pictures next week - but here's a taste of last year.

Oh Mario and Evan!
Tif and Zo
Evan and I waiting for the rope tow
Mario gets all the ladies!
Everyone warming up by the fire

Weight Update - Well, I gained back two pounds over the holidays. I'm not going to worry about it too much though. I'll get my ass on the treadmill and be back to losing in no time!

Neato Quote of the Week - Waste your money and you're only out of money, but waste your time and you've lost part of your life. - Michael LeBoeuf

(603) Dude I got a text from you at 1:30 last night and you didn't use any vowels.
(1-603) Haha, I didn't want to buy any.... we're in a recession, you know.

And Finally, My Gripe - UGH. Whoever the jackass is in the neighborhood who's all of the sudden decided to listen to music at all hours of the night. I'm UBER sensitive to noise and nothing makes me more crazy than that incessant thumping of bass. Tomorrow I shall track whoever it is down and write them a strongly worded letter. If that fails, I'll call the cops. Yup, I'm THAT neighbor. HA!

Tips for a better life....

Found this online, thought it was neat and wanted to pass it on -

Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.

Buy a DVR and tape your late night shows and get more sleep.

When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'

Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

Play more games and read more books than you did in the previous year.

Make time to practice meditation, yoga, tai chi, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.

Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

Dream more while you are awake.

Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

Try to make at least three people smile each day.

Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.

Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.

Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Frame every so-called disaster with these words: In five years will this matter?

Forgive everyone for everything.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.

Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

The best is yet to come.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

Do the right thing!

Call your family often.

Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.

Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed!

Enjoy the ride. Remember this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.

Celebrating Christmas with vomit. Yup, that sounds about right....

Well, last week was pretty good with the exception of the Dina Martina Christmas Show. The show itself was great - the events that followed were NOT. I'm going to blame it on being "over served" by the bartender, but the night ended with Tif and I barfing in the Dick's parking lot and all over Leah's car. OOPS!!! Sorry Leah!!! So, yeah, that sucked.

News Article/Current Event -

Current Obsession - Sephora.com! I can't get enough! There was a $50 Sephora gift card under the tree for me from Mom & Dad, so I've been perusing the site all day for my next purchase. Mario bought me a train case for Christmas so I can organize all my oodles and oodles of makeup and related junk. I just need to order my Z palettes and I'll be all set!

What I'm Looking Forward to in the Week Ahead -
This week is looking to be pretty mellow. Not too much going on and as far as I know, we're going to have a quiet night at home for New Years. We'll see if that actually happens though! Since so little is happening in the week ahead, I thought I'd post some pictures of last weeks shenanigans....

The beginnings of the gingerbread shenanigans!
Our secret weapon was the gummy army men - they ROCKED!
We broke up into teams for the competition -
Team Wendi/Missy on the left, Team Misty/Tiffany on the right.
Christmas tree hunting 2010
He's so adorable!
Chris & Wendi with their ginormous tree!
GINORMOUS!!
Our finished tree -
Mario only took four union breaks before it was completed. ;)
We did dimsum for our Christmas office party at work.
It was delicious as usual!
Had a chicken foot and it wasn't too bad.
Would I order it again? No.
Christmas morning -
trying on the hat/scarf set my mother-in-law made for me!

Weight Update - I lost again this week, however I have a feeling when I weigh in on Friday I'll be right back to where I started. I've kind of taken December off since there has been an increase in holiday foods and a decrease in time to exercise. One more week to slack off a little and then I'm hitting it full force!

Neato Quote of the Week - If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. - Maya Angelou

Texts From Last Night "Text of the Week" - (619) I'm downtown. Alone. Lost. Drunk. Dressed as Santa. Don't find me. I just heard someone say mechanical bull.

And Finally, My Gripe - Someone better mark the calender, because this week I DON'T HAVE A GRIPE! Wow!!! I'm sure it will be the last week that ever happens. ;)

It's the most wonderful time of the year?

I finally made some Christmas purchases for someone other than myself today! WHOA! I know. Tif and I hit the mall last week to do some Christmas shopping and on the way out, realized we had only purchased stuff for ourselves. Not only was it for ourselves; it was entirely makeup. Bags and bags of makeup - save for Tif's nose ring purchase. We're going to give it another try on Saturday; we'll see how that goes....

News Article/Current Event -

Current Obsession - I love, love, love this new Kevin Bacon commercial! I'm not sure why, but I find it absolutely hysterical. Maybe it's because Kevin Bacon is oddly sexy in a way you just can't put your finger on, like my other crush David Bowie. *swoon*

My other obsession this week is a show on FX called The League. It's about a group of friends that compete against each other in a fantasy football league. Now, I couldn't give a crap about fantasy football - I'm not even sure what it involves really, but this show is FANTASTIC! It's filthy, inappropriate and friggin' funny!!

What I'm Looking Forward to in the Week Ahead -
Friday night we're heading up to Chris & Wendi's for pizza and movie night. We're going to be watching Despicable Me and having a gingerbread house decorating challenge. Should be a great time! I thought a boys vs. girls decorating contest would be fun, but I think theirs would just end up broken and covered in black tinted frosting while they sat on the couch and ate the remaining candy....

Wendi, Tif and I are going to attempt to get some Christmas shopping done on Saturday. We have a lot of stops planned and hopefully we'll buy something for someone else this time. I'm not looking forward to dealing with the throngs of mall shoppers, so a drink or two before hand may be in order. Nothing like drunk Christmas shopping! ;) People on my gift list beware!

How could you not love this?!
And on the 23rd, my girls and I are headed down to Re-bar for The Dina Martina Christmas Show! SO EXCITED!!! It's going to be amazing and I'm super psyched to introduce my girls to the world of drag queens. As you may or may not already know, I have a serious thing for drag queens. It's one of my many quirks and I love it! Eddie Izzard, David Bowie (circa: Labyrinth), Ms. Richfield 1981 - I love them all!! Next time I head to the Cape you can bet it's going to coincide with this event.

Anyway, Dina Martina is AMAZING!! I last saw her a couple of years ago in P-town and have been trying to make it down to the Christmas Show ever since. She's by far my favorite queen!

Weight Update - Down another .6lbs this week! Surprising with all the crap I've been eating at work. The specialists keep dropping off boxes of candy, trays of cupcakes and baklava. UGH! Stupid holidays with their delicious food.

Neato Quote of the Week - If there is such a thing as a good marriage, it is because it resembles friendship rather than love. - Michel de Montaigne

Texts From Last Night "Text of the Week" - (980) When I got there he was on top of an air mattress in the middle of the pool with a bag of doritos and a 40, telling people he needed his space.

And Finally, My Gripe - This week it's about the old, fat traffic cop who directs the one and only way across the valley until the flood waters recede. You're there every year without fail and every year I think about how much you suck. Here's an idea - ALTERNATE DIRECTIONS!!! Seriously, you can run more than one direction of traffic at a time. I've seen it done! And while I truly adore sitting on the hill for 30 minutes or more every afternoon, I think it's time for you to retire.
